Sorceror Warlock Adventurer Detective^[1]

M.A.I.N.E., usually called Maine, is a Hexelf and forged construct whose body carries the work of the M.A.I. experiments in steel, circuits and scars. Rebuilt through void science, they combine the roles of sorcerer, warlock and detective. Their search for other M.A.I. subjects is also a search for the truth of their own making. The experiments gave Maine dangerous abilities, but they did not settle what Maine would do with them.^[1][5]

Whispering is Maine’s gift for putting doubt, paranoia, confidence or questions into another mind. It makes uncertainty something they can use as well as something they live with. My Alchemical Romance and the MKN Detective Agency give that power a place among chosen companions: Maine works through tactics and investigation while the bonds they form remain part of the question of who they will become.^[1][5]

Maine founded the MKN Detective Agency with Kaya and Nymeria. While Maine and Kaya have been adventuring, Nymeria has watched over the agency. Its history therefore belongs to all three founders, and its continuing stewardship is part of Maine’s connection to people whose work carries on while they are away.^[4]
