Kaya

Kaya’s monastery was both a place of discipline and the home of her adoptive monk family. She grew up there with Kuzon, her beloved friend. When the family was slaughtered, that shared childhood became a history of loss as well as companionship. Kaya carries the devotion of that upbringing into a life that includes investigation and adventures with others.^[1]

Kaya co-founded the MKN Detective Agency with Maine and Nymeria Duarte. Its work continued even when its founders took different paths: while Kaya and Maine were adventuring, Nymeria watched over the agency. Founding it gave Kaya a part in a shared undertaking that extended beyond any one journey, with responsibility passing into Nymeria’s hands while her companions were away.^[1][2]
