Gold is the main practical financial resource in Jericha. Silver and copper still exist as language, leftovers, or small-change memory, but serious prices, rewards, taxes, bribes, and institutional quotas are now discussed in gold. That compression makes ordinary life feel more expensive even before true scarcity is counted.

Prices rise because gold, safety, and magical energy are now tangled together.

The Void Era economy is not merely expensive. It is worsening worldwide. Gold prices climb because magical infrastructure, relic power, item recovery, institutional fees, and public fear all chase the same shrinking pool of usable magic. The more dangerous the world feels, the more every charged object becomes a financial and political target.

Every region should show its own version of the same global scarcity.

The group does not need to stand in a place for the Void Era economy to reach it. Rural provinces, industrial dynasties, temple routes, island ports, borderlands, and off-map settlements should all have local symptoms: gold-only trade, relic salvage, labor unrest, anti-forged suspicion, desperate buyers, temple custody claims, smuggling, or communities hoarding harmless-looking magic because harmless no longer means worthless.

Old convenience items are now energy reserves, not junk.

Late Centrum society grew used to magic doing ordinary work. People created and consumed magical convenience at scale, from mundane helpful trinkets to powerful weapons. Once the supply of available magic tightened, even useless-seeming artifacts became valuable because they still held stored void-touched energy that could be recovered, refined, taxed, stolen, or weaponized.

The energy shortage is tied to Albert's hidden survival projects, not just bad accounting.

At the end of the Centrum era, many believed Albert was gathering a surplus of void energy for the world or for public magical infrastructure. The discovered truth was darker: he was using that power for time-travel attempts and projects meant to keep himself invincible forever. The M.A.I. line means Make Albert Invincible.

Magala's reveal to Nora made the Centrum's hidden economy politically explosive.

The Battle at VQU and the end of the Centrum were triggered in large part because Magala revealed Albert's deception to Nora Rabe von Queef. Once Nora understood that the promised surplus had been turned toward Albert's invincibility and time-travel work, the old Centrum order broke into open conflict.

Magic items are portable batteries in a world short on magic.

The current story keeps circling magic items because charged artifacts are both treasure and fuel. A cloak, ring, token, novelty machine prize, or old weapon may matter less for what it does at the table than for the energy still trapped inside it. Institutions can seek those items for recovery quotas, research, refinement, stabilization, or control.

Some bodies are treated as energy sources, which turns economics into identity violence.

The economy does not stop at objects. Look for gold-only pricing, wildly inconsistent item valuations, sudden interest in ridiculous old magic trinkets, pressure to surrender relics for institutional credit, body-part scavenging, anti-forged propaganda, regional hoarding, and buyers who care more about charge than function.
