Reference details
Public knowledge
Partial. Voidling and Voidborn are interchangeable umbrella terms. Castro are one specific shapeshifting Voidborn lineage. Voidborn soulflayers are a distinct higher kind that embeds itself in systems and feeds on collective soul-energy while preserving an appearance of normalcy.[2]
Cultural impact
The term helps separate a whole category of void-traveling peoples from Castro specifically, keeping the current threat clear without making every voidling the same enemy. It also keeps open the economic problem: some void-traveling bodies may carry energy that Jericha's institutions, enemies, and scavengers all want to understand or exploit.[2]
