How It Works

The Fall of the Centrum is best read as a chain of VQU disasters rather than one clean battle. Albert's hidden void economy and M.A.I. ambitions made the old order brittle; Orlandus's death turned private tower conflict into campus trauma; Maine's tsunami saved lives and killed hidden students; Magala created the opening against Albert; Nora stopped him by turning him into a rat, but failed to capture him before he escaped into the Void. The old Centrum ended because its promise of safe, abundant, controlled magic collapsed in front of students.

Pressure

The Hidden Economy Before the Fall

Tribunal Offense

The battle begins before the first spell is cast.

Before open battle, Albert had already turned the late-Centrum promise of magical abundance into private survival infrastructure. Old history calls this void research; newer play makes the stakes sharper: stolen, stockpiled, and rewritten void energy fed time manipulation, M.A.I. work, and Albert's belief that the world should be redesigned around worthiness.

Orlandus

The Courtyard Death

Death

Orlandus turns institutional failure into a name students can mourn.

Orlandus Spokovich's death is the human-sized beginning of the collapse. Live notes frame it as a VQU courtyard tragedy caused by the tower confrontation: a falling void-shadow impact kills a student mid-social scene, leaves a crater, traumatizes Nick, and turns campus grief into Dominion and Balance conflict.

Schism

The Vigil and the Crowd

Civic Doctrine

The campus fractures around grief before the battle finishes the job.

The vigil around Orlandus's void-scarred crater shows VQU breaking socially before it breaks physically. Grief becomes factional language, Dominion and Balance arguments surface in public, and Titian has to restrain the crowd. Magala's earlier warning of a funeral and a crowd becoming a mob lands here.

Library

Maine's Tidal Wave Incident

Death

Maine's most famous intervention is both victory and guilt.

During the Battle at VQU, Maine unleashes a conjured tsunami through the library to destroy immediate Voidforged threats. The spell works in the moment, but the aftermath reveals hidden students were caught in the flood. This is why the Tidal Wave Incident should be remembered as rescue and catastrophe at once.

Voidforged

Orlandus's Remnant and the Portkey

Tribunal Offense

The route to Albert runs through the body of the person his violence erased.

The battle does not leave Orlandus as simple memory. A larger Voidforged containing what remained of him confronts Nick before being destroyed, and a Portkey embedded in the remnant opens the route from VQU to the Void Realm duel. The dead student becomes proof that Albert's machinery can turn grief into infrastructure.

Magala

Magala's Last Spell

Death

Magala makes Albert stoppable.

In the Void Realm climax, Magala sacrifices herself to curse and paralyze Albert long enough for Nora to act. Older textbook accounts and live notes vary in exact framing, but the known truth is stable: Magala creates the opening against Albert and falls doing it.

Nora

Nora Turns Albert Into a Rat

Civic Doctrine

Albert is stopped, humiliated, and still not safely captured.

Nora defeats Albert with a void-enhanced or Absolute Polymorph-style transformation, beating him down and turning him into a rat. The victory is incomplete: Albert escapes through a portal, which leaves every later rat joke, rumor, and sighting with a real historical bite.

Aftermath

Victory Curdles Into Aftermath

Civic Doctrine

The old Centrum ends in ruins, escape routes, and survivor guilt.

After the Void Realm duel, the group returns to ruined VQU. Nora stays behind to search for survivors and her son, students flee through sewers, and Maine sees bodies from the library flood. This is the moment the story stops feeling like a clean victory and becomes the wound New VQU keeps trying to narrate over.

Inheritance

What the Fall Leaves Behind

Civic Doctrine

The Void Era is the old battle still sending bills.

The collapse leaves the Void Era with its central problems: Albert's ideology survives through Black Ward, Krane, M.A.I. fallout, forged-body fear, relic extraction, Boost, Lawful pressure, New VQU, QUEST, and Centrum 2.0. The current age is not post-collapse so much as collapse managed with paperwork.
