The Lawful

The Lawful grew within the Centrum’s public-service order, encompassing policing, emergency response, investigation, civic compliance and other lawful recruits. When the old Centrum fell in 2098 M.B., its personnel largely returned to work: preserving services, managing disorder and responding where local safety failed. That continuity helped city and regional divisions become autonomous institutions serving their own communities. The Lawful remains a commonly known, locally powerful presence through offices including those in Stormcall and the Queefdom, rather than a single force automatically commanded by the restored Centrum.^[1]

The Queefdom division has handled refugee control, emergency response, street disorder and Boost-related crises while the Magistrate holds office authority. Rather than appoint a direct replacement for Alara, it opened an elected mayoral role to candidates of any alignment. The office is meant to govern beside the Lawful Magistrate and does not automatically command Lawful field forces. Cooperation with the new Centrum remains a partnership with a locally autonomous division, not inherited subordination.^[1][2]

Accounts of the Lawful’s local funding describe public and private donations, donors able to influence priorities, and channels that can obscure who originally supplied the money. Velvet Cross is said to receive preferential service, without a confirmed law explicitly forbidding that preference. These accounts form part of the divisions’ reputation and the debate over whose needs their resources serve.^[1]
