How Titian-era roots connect to present-day fallout without becoming the same source
This index separates Jericha's old-history roots from their modern echoes. Titian's Journal and the older history folders describe the Drakkuskan War era, Scholar Age learning culture, early VQU politics, Emrys, relic routes, forgotten gods, old bargains, and the people who later became institutions. Modern Act 5 material shows what survived: New VQU, Void Era scarcity, Lawful contract pressure, resurrection law, Gertie bargain economies, Red Ledgers, Graven Scourge fallout, and the growing public importance of Power Nine churches. The connection is inheritance, not identity: old history explains where the pattern began, while modern story notes show how the pattern still harms people.
Root
Use Titian for roots, witness texture, and old roads.
Titian's Journal is an in-world artifact from the Drakkuskan War era. It is strongest for anecdotes, routes, relationships, early institutional behavior, relics, crystals, and names before they became monuments. Its dates and sweeping cosmology may be outdated, but its witness texture is valuable.
War
Old Emrys material belongs to war memory before modern doctrine.
The oldest active root cluster is the Drakkuskan War: Emrys's return, dragon crystals, dragonborn pressure, student witnesses, VQU errands, Xhorrica's betrayal, and the question of whether the Crystals sealed, fed, stored, or misunderstood divine power.
Institution
Use schools and learning culture as the old public frame.
The old cultural engine was learning infrastructure: VQU and Kremgrad as old prestige schools, growing adventuring education, guild training, monasteries, city schools, and village teachers. Power Nine churches are increasingly prominent in modern Jericha, but they should not be retroactively treated as the central Titian-era framework.
VQU
Old VQU explains the institutional habit; New VQU shows its inheritance.
Titian-era VQU shows the pattern before the Centrum gives it a larger machine: student missions as cover, Housemaster silence, PhiPhi warnings, Shadowplay ledgers, hidden caches, and Xhorrica's betrayal. New VQU and QUEST are modern echoes, not the same source layer.
Relics
Relic-counterfeit roots explain why modern item audits feel familiar.
Titian's relic and counterfeit armor routes begin as provenance, smuggling, hidden caches, and institutional laundering. Void Era economy turns that old pattern into modern extraction pressure because even false relics can hold value as stored magic, paperwork, collateral, or contraband.
Names
Theme can echo without being the same canon event.
Mister E, the Labyrinth of Lost Names, First Betrayers, forgotten gods, and soul-return choices are Titian-rooted myth material. Modern identity crises around Maine variants, Castro copies, hexnames, and records can echo that theme, but they should not be treated as direct Titian claims unless a source says so.
Bargains
Bargain logic is inherited; evidence source still matters.
Titian-era material includes dead bargains, Fangapor memory, and Baron authority. Modern Gertie, Lawful contracts, Red Ledgers, Duskborn scrolls, and Graven Scourge evidence continue the pattern of debt and consent, but they are modern story fallout unless explicitly rooted in old notes.
Power Nine
Do not backfill modern Power Nine prominence into Titian-era source work.
The Power Nine did not exist as the operating frame of the Titian campaign and were not as important to Witchborn public life through the Scholar Age as schools, universities, and practical learning. In the modern day, churches and cults devoted to different Power Nine deities are becoming more prevalent and should be treated as current institutional growth.
Rule
Root first for Titian; fallout first for live story.
When the source is Titian or old history, update the old-history root first. Add modern echoes only after the root is clear, and label them as echoes. When the source is live story, update modern fallout first and link back to old roots only when the shared pattern helps the player understand the world.
