Meadowkin Commune

The commune later relocated from Hazy Meadows, also called Hazy Pastures, to Havyk’s Root Barrel Farm after the medusas occupying it had been cleared. Havyk rented the property to the Rootbarrels. The move placed the community’s need for shelter alongside the family’s farming and alchemical work, while keeping the commune distinct from Orval Finkus’s neighboring property.^[1]

A rural circle of healing

The Meadowkin Commune is a nature commune, alchemical healing circle and rural witness network associated with Hazy Pastures in South Aerovia and Root Barrel Farm. Blinded herbalists, alchemists, druids, medusa survivors, omenscribes and farm mystics belong to its wider story. Uncommonly known beyond that rural world, the community remains active but compromised, carrying an ideal of sanctuary and spiritual return into the difficult work of recovery.^[2][3]

Its history brings together different forms of rural care and danger. Barney and Marnie Rootbarrel’s labor, brewing and healing sit alongside the stories of Bracken Rootfoot, Pip Thistlebloom, Merris Tumbletwig, Calithea, Willow Dewglade and Xalaethra. The commune’s promise of regrowth has also drawn suspicion around manipulation, Boost-touched ritual, medusa dealings and control of farm labor. The people connected to it do not all stand in the same relationship to its refuge: some tend it, some survive its harms, and some are part of the danger its stories record.^[3]
