What Is a Witchborn?
Witchborn is Jericha's collective word for its people, not the name of a single species. As different species settled in Jericha, the Void tainted or blessed them into a shared condition: Witchborn species speak Common and every Witchborn is born with a power that may become accessible only after a triggering experience.
One word for Jericha's peoples
Species names ancestry and form; Witchborn names a shared Jerichan condition.
People
Human, elf, orc, dragonborn, Forged, and Jericha's other species remain distinct. Witchborn describes the people they became together on Jericha and the Void-shaped traits that cross those species boundaries.
Tainted or blessed
Every Witchborn carries an inborn power shaped by Jericha's Void condition.
Void
Jericha's Void influence changed the species that settled there. Some call that change a taint and others a blessing. Either way, every Witchborn is born carrying a power that belongs to their life even before they can use it.
Power may arrive during a life
Being born with power does not mean being born able to use it.
Trigger
A Witchborn's power can remain inaccessible until an event or condition in their life triggers it. The emergence can resemble the activation of a superpower: birth provides the potential, while lived experience determines when it becomes available.
Powers live inside Aspects
Power is the ability; an Aspect is the larger structure that contains and teaches Powers.
Aspects
A Power is part of an Aspect, not another name for the entire Aspect. Each Aspect in Jericha's current system contains 42 Powers. As access to magic widened, Witchborn learned to understand their awakened Powers, study other Aspects, and develop jobs and classes around the abilities they could harness.
