Red Ledger

A Red Ledger is a tracking device and personal oath between Krampus and the person who holds it. It records the requirements that holder commits to Krampus and helps the holder track their fulfillment. Holders use their own Ledger as they see fit and generally write only in their own book, so they would normally record only commitments they believe they can fulfill. The kinds of requirements, how an oath is entered or acknowledged, whether the Ledger updates automatically, what happens when a holder fails, and how the relationship ends remain unresolved. It is not established as an evidentiary casebook or a supernatural punishment tool against third parties.^[1]

A Red Ledger is a personal oath between Krampus and the person who holds it, embodied in a book used to track the requirements that holder commits to fulfill. Holders generally write only in their own Ledger and use it as they see fit, normally recording commitments they believe they can meet. The book gives their own obligations a record; it does not establish authority to write another person into supernatural punishment or turn an accusation into an enforceable case.^[1][2]

The oath’s practical boundaries remain important. The kinds of requirements, the procedure for entering or acknowledging an oath, whether the book updates itself, the consequences of failure and the way the relationship ends have not been established. A Ledger can therefore be recognized and understood as its holder’s commitment tracker without assuming a ready-made punishment system. Krampus-linked cursed gifts have their own recorded contract behavior; carrying or finding a Ledger does not by itself establish that the finder accepted those gifts or another holder’s oath.^[2]
