Valara Exposes the Impostors

The fake Rill and fake Redwave made their move near the gate.

They used urgency first, then familiarity. Hollow. The Black Ward. The kind of bait that could pull Ash out of the crowd because it sounded too important to ignore and too personal to leave unanswered.

Then Valara Cirio stepped out.

As C.C. The Blade, she did not need the whole conspiracy explained to recognize the bodies in front of her were wrong. Her altered senses caught what the crowd could not: shapeshifted forms, Witchborn signatures, identity mismatch. Not a general lie detector. Something sharper and stranger, tuned to the difference between a person and the thing pretending to be that person.

The impostors were Castro.

The real Rill and Redwave were alive, but captured.

That revelation changed Ash from bystander to target. The lure had been built for him, and Valara's interruption turned a private trap into an open warning. She did not know the full Castro leadership or the complete target logic, but she knew enough to break the disguise before it closed around him.

For one breath, Gravenhurst's chaos clarified.

Someone was hunting Ash.

Someone else had found him first.
