Madame Batdorf Wants the Red Ledger Kid

Madame Batdorf did not stay politely inside Ash's inventory.

Her spectral gnoll-matron presence manifested from the bone charm set as the party descended, opinionated as ever and now carrying a sharper mystery than insults. She insisted, more than once, that she was meant for the red ledger kid.

Not Ash.

The red ledger kid.

That detail landed strangely beside Jixie, the wounded ledger goblin guiding them down with the chained box. It might have meant him. It might have meant someone else connected to the ledger, the Dimoggio route, or some separate thread the party had not found yet.

Batdorf also warned Ash about poison and the green stuff below, which made the advice useful even if the delivery was unbearable.

The bone charm set was no longer only loot with a rude voice attached. It had preference, memory, and direction. Somewhere in or under New Goblin City, Madame Batdorf believed there was a rightful bearer, target, patient, heir, or problem.

Ash had the charm.
