The Students Accidentally Hand Over Better Loot
2026-04-30 / Cave approach / loot distribution
The VQU students had not only handed the party side loot. They had accidentally handed over good side loot. The two items from the prior cave chest were identified as Darts of the Magic Point and Quiet Edge. The students had treated them like lesser prizes beside the legendary wand, but the mistake said more about youth than value. They were new enough to danger that they could hold magic and still misread it as mundane. The darts behaved like magic-missile-style thrown weapons, clean and direct in the way adventurers immediately understand. Quiet Edge was subtler: a short sword that could trigger Silence on critical hits and strike harder when the wielder attacked with advantage. That made the wand dispute funnier in retrospect. Nell kept the legendary wand because she cared about preserving it. The party walked away with the practical tools the students did not know they were giving up. VQU's younger adventurers had ambition, instincts, and bravery. They did not yet have appraisal sense.
