Jonah Suggests Breaking the Legendary Wand
2026-04-23 / Road near cave
The VQU student trio had found loot in the cave and reached the ancient adventurer problem: everyone wanted the best thing. The object of the argument was a legendary wand. Jonah tried to solve the dispute with a proposal that was somehow both fair-minded and horrifying. Break the wand into thirds. Nell Quiv objected immediately. Breaking the wand would ruin it. More importantly, the person who should keep it was the person who cared about preserving it rather than merely possessing it. That shifted the argument. The trio agreed to let Nell keep the wand, because Nell was the one treating the item like something with value beyond ownership. Jonah's wisdom worked sideways. He did not solve the dispute by being technically correct. He helped reveal the actual criterion: preservation. In return, the students gave the party two other items they did not realize were magical, the Darts of the Magic Point and Quiet Edge. The students were out of spell slots, but they agreed to guide the party back toward the cave after a short rest. The rescue path now had student guides, side loot, and one legendary wand that survived Jonah's diplomacy.
