No One Knows Which Ring Maine Has

Some uncertainty was preserved on purpose.

Jonah had hidden a ring with Maine before prison, but the story did not confirm whether he successfully gave Maine the consumable Wish ring or accidentally gave him another ring. The important part was not that the table lacked an answer. The important part was that the answer was being saved for the moment Maine reached for it.

No one noticed the hiding.

That much was confirmed behind the scenes. But the ring's identity remained unresolved, deferred until prison turned the question into action. Maine might have access to a Wish while imprisoned. He might have nothing of the sort. The difference could matter enormously, and the campaign kept the uncertainty alive rather than flattening it into bookkeeping.

That makes this less a rules note than a loaded chamber in the story.

Somewhere in Maine's prison continuity, there is a ring.

What it is will only become true when he tries to use it.
