The bridge incident became a family matter by way of a portal. She was Morgan's sister, which immediately explained too much and not enough. Katrine understood what Morgan had done. Morgan's use of the corpse was illegal because Witchborn retained a right of revival. Even a harvested body was not simply free material when revival rights remained attached to the dead. Katrine fined Morgan one hundred gold, enforcing the law with the calm of someone who had dealt with Morgan's habits before. Morgan did not take it gracefully. Katrine's flask put her to sleep. Ash paid the fine from Morgan's pocket. Katrine remarked that Morgan losing her head had never stopped her before, which made the whole visit feel less like a first confrontation and more like a family pattern the party had accidentally witnessed. Then Katrine left the way she came: by portal. Morgan's backstory had arrived in uniform, carrying undead children and legal authority.
