Judah Brings the Crown of Thorns

Djon Charleston's movement did not wait for Jonah to decide whether it was worth taking seriously. Judah, the preacher connected to Djon from the prior day, arrived and declared Jonah chosen too. Then he gave Jonah a gift from Djon Charleston: the Crown of Thorns, a Djeebus-resonant magic item with a cost built directly into its blessing. It made Jonah's cleric healing stronger by one d8. It dealt that same unavoidable damage to Jonah. That was not subtle theology. The item turned pain into increased healing, faith into transaction, and sacrifice into a mechanic Jonah could not ignore. It also proved that Djon's movement had access to real power, or at least real enough magic to make the question harder. Was Djon Charleston a rival prophet? A fraud with dangerous tools? A true believer building something rotten from holy symbols? Jonah could not place him on a low history roll, and the inscription's Djon-Djeebus spelling only made the gift feel stranger. The Crown of Thorns did not answer the faith problem in Gravenhurst. It put the problem on Jonah's head.
