Oskar Comes Home Duller Than His Armor

Greta did not send the party toward Oskar with good news.

Oskar Duskshade had returned from the Aboleth challenge defeated, and he was staying in Gloomspire. That should have sounded like recovery. It did not. When the group went to retrieve him, they found him disheveled, withdrawn, and wearing armor that seemed to have lost its shine with him.

His new home had spaces that felt less like rooms and more like places to punish himself into motion: rage-room-like training areas where impact could stand in for progress. Only one room seemed carefully maintained, a study where Oskar had been researching void matters.

That contrast mattered.

The Aboleth path had not simply failed as a quest objective. It had left Oskar shaken enough to isolate himself, but not so broken that he stopped looking for answers. The noble mask was thinner now. The void problem was closer. Gloomspire had given him a roof, but not peace.

He rejoined the party from a place of defeat.

That made his return less triumphant and more useful. Oskar was back, but whatever happened beneath the Aboleth challenge had followed him home.
