Elmyra Manticore Refuses the Smelly Labs

Elmyra Manticore arrived with more history than she wanted to carry and more confidence than the situation deserved. She was one of the First Five students who answered Baron Von Queef's reopening of VQU, which made her part of the same generation that turned the university from a plan back into a living institution. She also came from the Manticore family web: Rafael Manticore's daughter, Pedro Manticore's niece, and Pesto Manticore's cousin. That meant money, legal pressure, criminal shadow, and family reputation all walked into QUEST with her. It did not mean she was good at alchemy. Elmyra's failure there was not a grand tragedy of ability. It was, at least in part, because she refused to attend smelly labs. The detail made her sharper, not smaller: privileged, chaos-powered, young, trying to become an adult without becoming only her family name, and still capable of sabotaging herself over sensory disgust. That was the angle she brought into My Alchemical Romance. A Manticore with chaos in her blood, QUEST authority over her shoulder, and no interest in pretending the group's mess smelled better than it did.
