Elmyra Inherits the Problem

By the time the story reached the Little Shop of Horticulture, Maine was no longer the team's working center. Maine's arrest had left My Alchemical Romance wounded, legally tangled, and badly in need of someone QUEST could point at and call responsible. Greta Wunsch chose Elmyra Manticore, also called Prism, and placed her with the group as a new or temporary leader. Elmyra reacted about as well as expected. She objected to their appearance. She objected to their manners. She objected, with some justification, to the amount of undead-adjacent baggage standing near her. But Greta framed the assignment as a promotion, not a punishment, and reminded everyone that the team still owed QUEST one thousand LEV worth of useful recovered items. That number mattered. The maze was behind them, but QUEST's quota was still in front of them. Maine was unlikely to get out quickly. Baron and X were already dissatisfied with the pace of item recovery. Elmyra did not receive a clean command. She received a mess with a ledger attached. The party had escaped Vithyrex. Now someone had to make them look like a functioning organization again.
