Vic Runs Through the Maze to Catch the Portal

Vic heard the escape before he reached it. The others were preparing to use the repaired portal, and that meant the maze was about to close its hand around anyone still too far away. Vic was still in the shapeshifter corridor, still dealing with a thing that kept losing control of its own skin, and he understood the problem in the most Vic way possible: if the maze would not give him a clean route, he would make one. He used his minotaur sense of labyrinths, took a running start, and drove the shapeshifter through a wall. That was not elegant. It was effective. The impact gave him the line he needed. Vic sprinted through Vithyrex's corridors after the departing group, turning murderball instinct and maze memory into an escape plan. By the time he reached the portal, Helga Wingkin and Valbrant were still deciding whether to follow. Vic did not join the party through a recruitment speech. He joined by hearing they were leaving and smashing his way into the exit window before it closed.
