Vic met Timonos Truthstriker with hand axes because there was no version of the maze where talking alone would keep Morgan alive.

Morgan was still trying to manage the fight from the edge of death. Timonos had already cut her down to one hit point in the previous push, and now the battle continued with everyone too close to the thing Vithyrex had made out of him. Vic raged into the work with his Vex handaxe rhythm while Morgan tried to keep the fight from collapsing around her.

Timonos called both Vic and Morgan "beloved."

That was the worst part of him. His language did not separate violence from affection. He asked after love, swung wildly, missed key attacks, and kept splitting his attention between Vic, Morgan, and Granny Handjobs. The danger was real, but it was unstable. The maze had made Timonos brutal and emotionally incoherent at the same time.

He said he had come to make happy noises.

The sentence would have been funny if the axe were not real.

Vic and Morgan were not fighting only a minotaur. They were fighting a man whose need had been turned into a weapon that could not decide who it wanted to hurt first.
