Act 5, Episode 4, Scene 26
Two Heart Pieces, Two Sides
2026-02-26 / Split dragonborn corridors
Arthur did not just return as a familiar face. He returned with a claim. He called Maine "brother," said he had one of the heart pieces, and asked for help defeating the dragonborn so they could work together. For Maine, that pulled the fight into old MAI gravity. Arthur was not just another trapped prisoner or another maze hazard. He was a surviving variant, someone whose existence made Maine's own origin feel less solitary and more dangerous. At the same time, Jonah's route was building in the opposite direction. The dragonborn with Jonah and Vala said they also had a heart piece. They wanted help against Arthur and the things chasing them. They had been fed, treated as allies, and folded into Jonah's temporary little party. Their fear was real. Their heart-piece claim was real enough to matter. The maze had finally stopped hiding the choice inside symbols. One heart piece was tied to Arthur. One was tied to the dragonborn. Maine was pulled toward the clone-brother bond. Jonah was pulled toward desperate prisoners who trusted him because he shared food before violence. Vithyrex's Maze did not ask who was correct. It asked who the party would stand beside first.
