Act 5, Episode 4, Scene 25
Arthur Looks Too Much Like Maine
2026-02-26 / Dragonborn combat corridor
Ash saw the gray-haired hexelf before he understood who he was looking at. The stranger had a metal arm and was fighting dragonborn in the maze corridor. Ash recognized only the uncanny part: he looked too much like Maine. The resemblance was wrong in the way old experiments and unfinished histories are wrong, familiar enough to unsettle but not clear enough to explain. Then Maine arrived. He recognized Arthur. Arthur was one of the MAI variants, a surviving clone-brother figure inside Vithyrex's Maze. The reveal pulled Maine out of ordinary combat logic and into family logic, or whatever version of family could exist between people made from the same impossible source. Maine did not need a long debate before acting. He attacked the dragonborn threatening Arthur. That choice mattered immediately because Jonah was, elsewhere in the maze, building trust with different dragonborn who also claimed a heart-piece route. Arthur's return did not simplify the maze. It split the party's loyalties even further.
