Granny Handjobs Learns to Burn

Morgan kept pushing through the maze by opening things that probably should have stayed closed. After using Chromatic Orb to open a stone door, she explored a crawl passage with Granny Handjobs close by. Then a flameskull flew past and attacked, turning the cramped exploration into sudden fire and bone. The fight was messy. The flameskull fireballed itself while Morgan and Granny were near it. Braska the Red, still part of the strange little orbit Morgan had created, shot it with a gun. Morgan finished the skull with Magic Missile, and what remained was not just ash and relief. There was a warm flaming crystal. Morgan activated it, and Granny Handjobs changed. The undead companion unlocked her pyrokinesis tree, becoming more than a disposable summon or joke-shaped corpse. She had been pulled into the maze's strange system of upgrades, boons, and emotional hazards, and came out with fire of her own. Vithyrex's Maze did not only alter the living. It taught the dead new tricks too.
