The next push through Vithyrex's Maze began with the party still split. Jonah had found the purple exit portal, but the answer was not enough by itself. Four heart pieces were missing, and without them the portal stayed closed. The maze had turned from wandering danger into a scavenger hunt with emotional teeth. Ash and Maine returned to the red, sickly infernal satyr. He repeated the same miserable truths: the maze burned, and he needed to find a lover. That made him feel less like a random stranger and more like one of Vithyrex's trapped lessons. The maze did not populate itself only with monsters. It filled itself with lonely people, incomplete pairings, and desire that had nowhere clean to go. Ash and Maine wondered whether the satyr needed to be paired with someone else inside the maze. That possibility made every NPC feel newly suspicious and newly useful. Someone might be a threat, a clue, a partner, or a missing part of someone else's wound. The portal needed four hearts. The maze kept offering broken ones.
