Act 5, Episode 3, Scene 7
What Loss Makes Room For
2026-01-18 / Jonah’s forge to amphitheater path
Jonah showed Dhaz the forge like it was more than a room. For Jonah's people, creation did not separate cleanly into craft, worship, livelihood, metalwork, and stonework. Those practices belonged together. The forge was not only where tools were made. It was where a life declared what it served by what it shaped. Dhaz understood part of that through absence. He compared Jonah's forge to his father's, a place that existed but had gone largely unused in the way Dhaz needed. Then he opened up about the path he had wanted before the explosion: alchemy, controlled change, and the experiment that cost him his arm and leg. Jonah did not try to make the loss smaller. He suggested that losing things can create space to make something new. It was not comfort in the cheap sense. It was craft logic applied to a life that had been broken, repaired, and forced to invent different tools. Dhaz admitted something else too. The explosion should not have happened from his own technique. That doubt turned grief into a question.
