Act 5, Episode 3, Scene 36
Jonah Solves the Spirit-Guardian Trial
2026-02-12 / Wish office
The trial ended when the room's pattern finally became clear enough to use. The white guardian had already fallen after Maine forced it into the pillar and stripped away its aura. The black guardian remained, carrying the other half of the puzzle, until Jonah's Spirit Guardians finally destroyed it. That was the answer Paulus Levius had been waiting for. Jonah had not bought his way through the wish office. He had not repaid the cathedral's impossible debt. He and the party had survived by reading the logic of the room, matching force to its opposite, and creating a solution together under pressure. Paulus Levius accepted it. He declared that Jonah had solved the spirit-guardian puzzle and might be more of a Paragon than Jonah believed. Then he healed the party to full, shifting into a more human ghostly form as the fight ended. The cathedral's account did not close because Jonah paid. It closed because he understood what Paulus Levius had forgotten: creation was not possession, and worthiness was not a receipt.
