Act 5, Episode 3, Scene 31
Two Doors Beyond the Reliquary
2026-01-29 / Reliquary corridor / side doors
When the sentries fell, the cathedral opened more of itself. Ash checked the two newly unlocked routes first. The left passage led into a massive pipe organ room, still and eerily quiet, like sound had been built there and then abandoned. It suggested ritual, performance, and maybe punishment waiting behind the keys. The right passage led somewhere colder. That room was an office of wishes and accounting: stonework, ledgers, labeled bottles, scattered coins, and a heavy iron coffer. If the reliquary had sold miracles in display cases, this room seemed to manage the paperwork afterward. The choice mattered. The cathedral had already shown the party offerings, confession, relics, shame, theft, sentries, and rival looters. Now it split into two possible explanations for Paulus Levius's system: ritual machinery on one side, administrative wish-commerce on the other. The party could rest before choosing. But the dungeon had made its next question clear. Did they want the music, or the books?
