The sentries took effort to break. Again and again, the constructs shifted into defense, resisted movement, and forced the party to work through the reliquary's punishing geometry. The fight had become exhausting in the way a holy machine can be exhausting: precise, judgmental, and built to keep standing. Dhaz brought the first one down with crossbow fire. That left the second guardian still holding the room hostage until Jonah stepped in. He invoked the mercy he was about to violate, said, "Djeebus forgive me," and struck the sentry in the knee with Life Burst. The automaton fell. When it did, the locked side doors opened. The reliquary's guardians were beaten, and the cathedral acknowledged the victory by revealing the next branches: a pipe organ room on one side and something that would later prove to be the wish office on the other. The Raiders were still there. But the room's first verdict had been overturned.
