The reliquary stopped pretending the tithe could be discussed.
Combat broke across the corridor in flashes of glass, force, and bad geometry. Ash struck first, punching one of the shrine sentries hard enough to force it into a defensive mode. The construct did not simply absorb the hit. It changed posture, hardened, and refused to be moved like an ordinary enemy.
Then the room began cutting back.
Jonah and Granny Handjobs were caught in shatter-line blade attacks as the sentries used the corridor itself like part of their weapon pattern. Dhaz fired from cover. Morgan weakened and blasted the constructs. Maine tried to make the reliquary's glass architecture pay for being glass, casting Shatter against both sentries and cracking nearby display cases in the process.
The damage did not land the way anyone wanted.
Maine's spell rolled painfully low, which almost made the room feel smug. The sentries showed attack and defense modes, glass-reflection reactions, shatter-line strikes, and a divine logic underneath the machinery.
These were not just guards.
They were relics trained to punish thieves and imposters.
