Loot Below the Dead Woman

The hidden path began with a drop and a corpse.

That made the descent feel less like exploration and more like accepting a warning everyone could see. The party climbed down carefully, Ash using his tentacle arm to help others avoid turning the entrance into a second accident. The hidden route had already killed Heathcliff's likely former master. No one needed to prove the fall could do it again.

At the bottom, the woman in black robes became more than scenery.

She was evidence. Someone had reached this place before the tourist system could sanitize it, and whatever she had carried down here had stayed with her. The party searched the remains and found older magic: a scroll of Tilt's Chill Touch and a +1 wand, usable as a spellcasting focus.

It was not a treasure hoard.

It was enough.

The first loot on the hidden path validated the whole premise of QUEST's mission. Untouched artifacts still existed beneath Aleklot's Rest, not along the carefully sold three-star route, but in the spaces people died reaching and no guide wanted to explain without a rewritten memory.

The party had not found the objective yet.

But the dungeon had already admitted there was real magic under the tourism.
