Act 4, Episode 1, Scene 15
The Locket Under the Chair
2025-08-01 / Banquet room chair
The banquet hid one honest thing under the furniture. Maine found it because it wanted to be found, or because something in it knew the shape of him. A locket under a chair vibrated and pulled toward his metal arm like memory had become magnetic. The engraving was simple enough to hurt. To Tono, Love PP5. Inside was a picture of Tono, true-neutral Tono, together with PP5. That alone would have been enough to make the object matter. Tono was not just a clue in the MAI thread. Tono was a person, a version, a relationship, a piece of the larger pattern that Gertie's maze had been forcing Maine to see through broken mirrors and hostile visions. Then Maine found the hidden message. Tiny. Blood-written. Direct. Wake up, wizard. Hit her. The locket turned grief into instruction. Maine answered with Magic Missile, splitting the spell's certainty across Darius, Morgan, and an enemy. It was not a clean emotional moment. It was tactical, messy, and exactly what the room required: a way to break allies out of stillness, test the possession around Morgan, and let Tono's memory interrupt Gertie's script. In a place made of false faces, the locket gave Maine something real enough to act on.
