Act 3, Episode 2, Scene 25
Wall of Stone Against the Dark
2025-06-19 / Hidden basement beneath old dwarven house
The basement did not fight like a room. It fought like a trap with a heartbeat. The shades came first, reaching with black hands, trying to pull strength and life out of anyone close enough to touch. Ordinary strikes passed through them badly, but Ash's empowered body and abyssal force found purchase where other attacks slipped away. When he destroyed one, the shadow broke open into a brief image: an old dwarven cook, visible for only a moment before fading with the words, It was the time. That was the first proof that the shades were not only monsters. They were remnants. Nick burned what he could and survived behind Shield when the darkness reached for his chest. Dhaz fought in Father's Favor, the new armor keeping him in the fight even as his blade did less to the shades than he wanted. Maine used Silvery Barbs to bend a hit away and Witch Bolt to keep pressure where pressure mattered. Tallulah kept using the dark as a knife sheath. She rushed out, stabbed, vanished, and let the basement swallow her again. The center square gave her cover and movement, and every attempt to pin her down had to fight the room before it could fight her. Jonah changed the room. Wall of Stone rose through the basement, cutting into the dark square and forcing Tallulah's routes to become narrower than she wanted. She reacted quickly enough to avoid being trapped outright, but the wall mattered. It blocked part of the darkness, changed sightlines, and took away some of the clean ambush angles the room had been built to give her. The fight was still ugly. But for the first time since the ladder, the basement had a shape the party had chosen.
