Act 3, Episode 2, Scene 22
The Old Stone House Below the Warehouses
2025-06-19 / Lower warehouse-side apartments
The address led them back toward the warehouse side of Stormcall. Not into the warehouses themselves, but down beneath their shadow: past damp steps, toward a lower industrial slum where the ocean made everything dark, wet, and close. The party found three cramped apartments pressed together where ordinary labels should have made the choice simple and did not. A trash heap marked one side. A little grass patch marked another. The middle building waited between them. Jonah noticed the stone. The door was cheap wood, but the bones of the house were older than the neighborhood around it. Old dwarven stone. Familiar in the way childhood memory can make architecture feel like a voice. Whatever this place had become, it had not started as another bad apartment below the warehouses. Maine tested the darkness through a small hole in the door. For a blink, there was an old trash heap of a room. Then the light vanished, swallowed by blackness. Jonah broke the door. Five red eyes stared back from inside. Then they scattered. The house breathed wet air and sour rot. The floor was layered with grime and dried ink, sticky enough to tug at every step. Lamps flickered like they wanted to be useful and were immediately smothered by the dark. Ahead, a stairwell showed fire damage. One servant passage was chained shut with the words No forge below. The address had not led to a hiding place. It had led to a house that remembered something terrible.
