Faceless Enemies in the Alley

The party could not stay in the square and wait for Sonar to explain himself. More explosions were going off through Stormcall. More people needed help. My Alchemical Romance moved toward the next disturbance with Wisdom Division somewhere nearby, at least for a moment. Then the crowd broke them apart. The party found itself funneled into an alley near Silver Helix Square without the student security team in immediate view. The noise of the celebration and the panic of the attacks dulled behind the walls. Ahead, the scene sharpened into something ugly. A forged figure lay on the ground. Another figure stood over the body. Rats clustered nearby, strange enough to be noticed even in a city currently full of stranger things. Around the alley, several faceless enemies began closing in, their bodies less like ordinary attackers and more like things shaped for a purpose. There was no time to question whether this was the next explosion, a Flesh distraction, or something that had been waiting for them to leave the open square. The team was isolated. Wisdom Division was not beside them. Maine's earlier Enlarge magic had faded. Jonah still carried the strange strength from the Stormstack burger prize. Nick still carried Sonar's notes. And the alley rolled itself into another fight.
