Rice Hands came back to the room, but not whole. His body was there, ruined and aged by what the Fate Hag had done to him. The shape of him remained visible enough to make hope hurt. If there was a body, maybe there was a spell. If there was a spell, maybe there was a way back. Queef Tower had already delivered murder, darkness, hags, rats, and undeath in one night. It was cruel enough to make impossible things feel negotiable. Havyk pleaded anyway. He called for Rice Hands' mind and soul to return to the decrepit body in front of them. The plea mattered because it named the real wound. This was not only flesh. This was not only age. The Fate Hag had taken the parts of Rice Hands that made a return possible and dragged them somewhere ordinary healing could not follow. The others tried to find an answer. Timberlake, Eveline, Maine, and the gathered guests searched through power, knowledge, desperation, and proximity to the impossible. Timberlake cast Power Word Heal out of frustration, throwing enormous magic at the problem because anything less would have felt like giving up. It was not enough. The spell could not restore what was missing. A body could be touched. A wound could be commanded. But Rice Hands' soul and mind had been damaged beyond the reach of that moment, and the Fate Hag's trap revealed its final cruelty: it had not merely killed him quickly. It had made the people who loved him watch the difference between a body and a person. Rice Hands succumbed. The masquerade became something permanent then. Bon's murder had shattered the event. Nick's transformation had changed one survivor's future. Rice Hands' death made the night a trauma that would follow more than one adventuring group out of Queef Tower. No pageantry could clean it up. No New VQU speech could make it smaller. The Fate Hag had taken Rice Hands, and the room had to learn that some losses cannot be argued back into mercy.
