The Void Duel
2098 MB / Void Realm / collapsing stitched terrain
# **Act 1 — Episode 5 — Scene 5** _The Void Duel_ --- **[NARRATION]** Crossing the threshold was like stepping through the surface of an empty ocean — no splash, no resistance, only the cold press of endless depth. They emerged onto a patchwork of floating terrain: a cliff edge here, a strip of cobblestone street there, jagged slices of forest and temple floor stitched together by nothing but the Void’s will. Above, below, behind — the same dark sky. A dome with no end. And at its heart, a storm of violence. --- **[NARRATION]** Albert moved like inevitability in human form. One arm deflected Magala’s spells, flinging them back with casual malice, while the other locked in brutal hand-to-hand against Nora. She shifted her weapon with every strike — axe to spear to blade — trying to match his unnatural speed. Magala’s voice rose in a chant older than the continents, every syllable a thread of foresight. Albert countered each vision with precision, his grin growing sharper with every blocked strike. --- **[NARRATION]** Then the moment came — not because Magala let it, but because she _saw_ it. She stepped directly into the path of his next blow. The impact cracked through the realm like a bell toll. --- **ALBERT** (laughing) Oh, clever Magala. That's different. You think killing you will _save_ her? --- **[NARRATION]** Magala’s couldn't reply with words — nor did she want to. Her final will was her magic — a curse coiling around Albert’s body like chains forged from his same inevitability. His grin froze. Every muscle locked. --- **NORA** (low, venomous) You should have stayed in your cage. --- **[NARRATION]** Nora spoke with her true voice as her true self — green skin and eyes like burning gold. Her weapon reshaped into a hammer, and she brought it down again and again, each strike ringing out like a school bell ending the day. --- **NORA** (steady, bitter) It won’t hurt you. But it feels good. --- **[NARRATION]** When the fury broke, her weapon was a staff. She planted its butt against the fractured ground and began the slow, precise weaving of _Absolute Polymorph_. A full minute under her breath. Albert could do nothing but glare. And then he was a rat. --- **[NARRATION]** The instant his form shifted, the Void Realm convulsed. Chunks of land twisted, folding in on themselves. Portals flared open like fresh wounds. Albert scurried toward one, free of his paralysis. He vanished into the tear with a final, defiant squeal, leaving Nora standing in the ruin of the realm — victorious but empty-handed. --- **[NARRATION]** The group didn’t wait for the realm to finish collapsing. They seized Nora by the arms, pulling her back toward the portal they’d entered through. The air tore as they crossed, the void-light dying behind them.
