Reconnection and Escape

## **EPISODE 4, SCENE 5 – “Reconnection and Escape”**

[NARRATION] The main chamber pulsed with urgency.

Three wires—wet, twitching, glittering with void-filament—now arced from the side chambers and hovered in midair like serpents waiting to strike.

Ash’s void-double stood at the center, unmoving.

A sculpture of stillness in a room made entirely of screaming thoughts.

[NARRATION: SFX] _THUNK-THUNK-THUNK._ The neuron floor reverberated. The collapsing dreamspace was running out of time.

**MAINE** (panting): “Wires are here. I think... we just plug them in?”

**VICTOR** (already halfway to the frame): “Let the rogue with steady hands and no plan give it a go!”

[NARRATION] One by one, the wires snapped into their ports with an audible _wet click_.

[NARRATION: SFX] _SPLUT._ _SLINK._ _CHKT._

Ash's body began to glow from the inside. No, not glow—_shudder_. Like a dam cracking beneath pressure it never agreed to contain.

**JONAH** (whispering): “He’s coming back.”

[NICK** (grim): “Then we need to get the hell out before he takes the whole mind down with him.”

[NARRATION] From the outer edges of the collapsing mindspace, the cackle returned—void imps, glass-winged and furious, now in the dozens.

They _poured_ in.

[NARRATION: SFX] _SKRRRRAAAAA!_ _CLINK-CLINK-CLINK!_ A tidal surge of claws and shards.

**DARIUS** (drawing both blades): “Go. Now.”

**VICTOR**: “Never have to ask me twice."

**DARIUS** (cutting him off): “Last one out gets left behind. That won’t be you.”

[NARRATION] The team fled. One by one, each throwing a final spell, a final glance, a final word that felt like it could be goodbye.

The portal had shrunk to a disc—now barely enough for one.

Jonah stumbled, tripped—an imp lunged—

[NARRATION: SFX] _THUNK._ Darius’s sword caught it mid-air. He lifted Jonah by the collar and _threw_ him through the light.

**JONAH** (vanishing): “DARIUS—!”

[NARRATION] The portal gave a final pulse, as if drawing breath for the last time. Darius turned.

[NARRATION: SFX] _SWIKK._ _SLASH._ Another imp fell in half, bisected neatly.

**DARIUS** (low): “Not today.”
