## **EPISODE 4, SCENE 1 – “Into the Mind Maze”** [NARRATION: SFX] _FWOOP._ A vacuum kiss. A sound like satin gloves being pulled from a corpse. [NARRATION] Victor Shaw landed in something the color of bruised roses and the texture of wet parchment. The floor flexed. The walls throbbed. And overhead, nerves of black wire coiled like arteries caught in a lie. Ash’s mind had become a maze. Or perhaps it always had been. Standing at its center—silent, obsidian, and wrong—was **another Ash**. A featureless figure made of voidstuff, barely distinguishable from the shadows, yet undeniably there. It did not blink. It did not speak. It simply raised one hand and pointed. Three veins. Three wires. Each one severed, curling like the limbs of dead spiders. Each humming with a frequency just short of madness. Certain that a disguise would not solve this and finding it all a bit uncomfortable for the environment of a brain, Victor removed his hat and took a look around the brainscape. **VICTOR** (dryly, to no one): “Well. This seems manageable.” [NARRATION] The void pulsed again, and the others arrived in staggered bursts. [NARRATION: SFX] _FWUMP._ Nick Kremp, hitting the membrane like a falling idea. _POP._ Jonah, stumbling like a prophet two cups deep into the sermon. _WHUMP._ Maine, eyes unfocused, like he’d been here in dreams but never dared admit it. _CRACK._ Darius, landing in a crouch. Of course he landed in a crouch. They looked around. They saw the nerves. The wires. The flickering mass of Ash’s suspended body, barely tethered to its own identity. The walls breathed, and someone’s spine tensed in sympathy. **DARIUS** (gritting his teeth): “Where the hell are we?” [NARRATION] Maine answered, with a distant voice of understanding that his explanation may cause even more confusion. **MAINE** (softly): “Ash’s mind. Or what’s left of it.” [NARRATION] That was the moment they stopped pretending this was normal. That this was a rescue. That they’d simply find their friend, shake him awake, and go back to bickering in the dorms. This wasn’t a rescue. This was a repair. [NARRATION: SFX] _Drip. Drip. Drip._ Not water. Not blood. Something between the two, leaking from the veins of memory. [NARRATION] The void-Ash said nothing, but the message was received: _Reconnect the wires._ _Or I stay broken._ _And you don’t come back either._ Victor glanced at the others. Nick’s hands had already started twitching toward flame. Jonah murmured a prayer not meant for anyone in particular. Maine stood still, calculating. Darius rolled his shoulders. **DARIUS** (quietly): “Point us to the first door.” [NARRATION] Void-Ash didn’t move. Just remained, still and watching, like a test that refused to grade itself. [Maine] Three disconnected wires. Three disconnected paths. Which one first?
