The Hollow Creed is the Jerichan faith tradition devoted to Gertie the Collector. It is practiced in pawn chapels, grief houses, shadow markets, back rooms, sewers, caravans, and anywhere desperation has become currency.
Power
Loss, greed, bargains, memory, debt, and kept things.
Gertie is She-Who-Keeps: the old woman behind the counter, the voice in the attic, the moth in the locked room, and the name that appears in ink after the bargain is already made.
Doctrine
People, memories, names, dreams, voices, homes, secrets, and futures may vanish, but they still exist somewhere. The terrible question is who owns them now.
Practice
Rites include Grieving Bargains, Hollow Tithes, Pact Ink contracts, Forgotten Vigils, and the Velvet Ledger. Payment may be gold, memory, secrets, years, names, dreams, luck, beauty, grief, or something missed later.
Sects
Major branches include Keepers of the True Ledger, the Crimson Thread, the Mourner's Mask, the Mouthless Choir, the Gilded Maw, and the Unwritten.
Modern
The Hollow Creed is growing quietly because official institutions rarely restore what people have truly lost. Its agents offer possibility, and possibility is dangerous.
