The faith of memory, descent, and the weight of truth
Abyssal is the Jerichan faith and scholarly tradition devoted to the Aboleth, the Deep One. Its followers are archivists, seers, monks, historians, whisper-priests, memory keepers, and scholars who believe truth is uncovered by descent.
Doctrine
Abyssals believe all things are recorded somewhere in the Deep. The greatest sin is willful erasure: destroying knowledge, altering memory for comfort, or lying to the structure of the world.
Practice
Rites include sensory-deprivation descents, Ink Offerings, Echo Vigils, memory-warding, and the Ritual of Layering that grants access to deeper and more dangerous truths.
Sects
Major branches include the Preservers, Deep Delvers, Mnemonic Weavers, Abyssal Inverted, Circle of Echoes, and Drowned Scribes. The Deep Archive may be a vault, psychic ocean, or the Aboleth's own mind.
Modern
Post-Centrum Abyssal influence is growing because official history can no longer be trusted. One recovered memory can overturn a noble line, expose a false saint, reopen a war crime, or break a prophecy.
