Complete rules
This egg has 3 instability charges. It does not regain charges normally. As an action, a creature holding the egg may press a hand to the shell and awaken the thing inside. Roll 1d4: 1: The egg shrieks. Each creature within 15 ft must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or become frightened until the end of its next turn. 2: The egg leaks void yolk. One creature within 30 ft gains 1d8 temporary hit points, but has disadvantage on the next Wisdom saving throw it makes before the end of its next long rest. 3: A spectral owlbear claw erupts from the shell. Make a melee spell attack using +6 to hit against one creature within 10 ft. On a hit, the target takes 2d8 slashing damage plus 1d8 psychic damage. 4: The hatchling stirs. For 1 minute, the holder can understand the emotions of beasts, monstrosities, and aberrations within 60 ft. Each time the egg is used, expend 1 instability charge. When the final charge is expended, roll 1d20: • 1–5: The egg cracks open and releases a hostile Void-Corrupted Owlbear Hatchling. • 6–15: The egg becomes inert, leaving behind a rare void-stained shell worth 500 gp. • 16–20: The egg stabilizes and may be safely incubated. If protected for 1d4 weeks, it hatches into a Void-Corrupted Owlbear Hatchling that imprints on the first creature it sees. A creature proficient in Arcana, Nature, or Animal Handling may spend 10 minutes calming the egg. On a successful DC 15 check, the next d20 roll made when the final charge is expended gains a +3 bonus.[1]
