Edge cases

This bonus applies only to locating an existing work or passage, not to interpreting its meaning, recalling history, detecting forgeries, or deciphering codes. The ring does not reveal concealed material, grant access to secured material, translate a language, or sense material at a distance. Removing the ring or ending attunement ends the benefit. The bonus does not stack with another copy of this item.^[1]

Complete rules

While wearing and attuned to this ring, you gain a +2 bonus to Intelligence (Investigation) checks made to find a particular written work or passage among physical written materials you can examine and read. You search normally; the ring improves the check rather than finding the material automatically.^[1]
