Overview
The Dagger of Hunger is a magical dagger whose strikes can briefly halt a creature’s movement without preventing it from acting.[1]
Rules at a glance
Edge cases
The speed reduction also triggers on a thrown hit. It does not impose the restrained condition, prevent teleportation, or stop forced movement. A successful save does not negate the weapon damage. Repeated failures do not stack; each effect expires at the end of the target's next turn.[1]
Complete rules
While attuned to this magical dagger, once per turn when you hit a creature with it, the creature must make a DC 16 Strength saving throw. On a failure, its speed becomes 0 until the end of its next turn. The creature can still take actions and reactions normally. The dagger deals 1d4 piercing damage plus the normal ability modifier and has the finesse, light, and thrown (20/60 feet) properties. It grants no numerical bonus to attack or damage rolls.[1]
